Birthday Gifts for Mom

Mother isn't always the easiest woman to shop for. Especially when it comes to birthdays. She has been waiting all year for her birthday so that her kids can show her just how much she means to them. She wants to know that she is appreciated.

Concert tickets make great birthday gifts for mom. Let her take her best friend or dad for a fun evening on the town. Chances are, she hasn't gone to a rock concert since she was in her teens. Many of the oldie rock bands are still touring and they sound better than ever now that they are out of rehab. My husband and I sent my mom and dad to the Beach Boys last year for mom's birthday and they had an awesome time. So much fun, in fact, that my dad recently purchased Righteous Brothers tickets for their anniversary this year.

Another great idea for mom is a three day all expenses paid cruise - again, with best friend or dad. Show mom that she deserves a few days off for fun and relaxation. Most moms love cruises because they are very low key and everything is included.

If you can't afford the cruise, plan a romantic picnic for your parents. Pack up a backpack full of cheeses, bread, wine and water and send along a map to a special place that you have already been to and scoped out. Hide a special little birthday card in the backpack for when lunch is over.

Moms love flowers but they are much better when delivered by her son or daughter rather than the FTD guy. Furthermore, then last three times I had flowers delivered to me, they were smaller and less impressive than the ones shown on the web. Buying flowers and having them delivered is an ok idea for a regular birthday, but for the big birthdays, you are going to want to do something more extravagant. If I were you, I would surprise mom with an unexpected arrival the day of her birthday. After you knock on the door, shout out "flower delivery." She'll be stoked! By the way, if you really can't make and want to send flowers, this place is awesome. Beautiful lilies and roses at a price you can't beat.

Watercolor paintings are another great idea for mother's birthday. Select a photograph that really means alot to mom - the house where she grew up, a scenic photo of her home town, a family snapshot. If you're an only child, select a baby picture. She'll be the one bawling like a baby!
